Domestic Violence:

What Will It Take To Stop Domestic Violence?

Domestic violence has a devastating physical, emotional and psychological affect on the domestic violence victims.  Oftentimes, domestic violence ends in murder.

We actually wanted to open up a forum on domestic violence and get peoples' opinions and ideas on this tragedy, but in researching that idea, we found that there are actually web sites on the internet that promote domestic violence.  That's right,  we have people in these United States who seem to believe that beating and killing women is justified.  So, for that reason, we thought it best to just brainstorm in our own space and in our own way.

We will be discussing some of our ideas on what we think must happen before domestic violence is ever brought under control.  We would also like to hear your thoughts and ideas, but we ask that you respond in the form of an

So, What Will It Take To Stop Domestic Violence?

Peoples' Attitudes and Opinions of Domestic Violence Must Change

Unfortunately, many people view domestic violence as a private family matter - to be solved between a man and a woman.

Well, nothing could be further from the truth about domestic violence.  When women's and children's safety and well-being is on the line in our own communities, domestic violence becomes our problem.

If you looked out your window at midnight and saw flames coming out of the roof of your neighbor's house, would you go wake them up?  Why?

Homes where domestic violence is occurring are on fire!

Unless something is done by someone, the fire will only get worse and live's could possibly be lost.

All people deserve the right to live their lives free of abuse and violence, especially in their own homes.

No woman deserves to be physically, sexually, or emotionally abused.

Individual Communities Must Get Involved In The Fight To Stop Domestic Violence

We have community "watch programs" designed to notify law enforcement personnel if we see something suspicious going on in the neighborhood.

Why would a fight going on in your neighbor's house not be "suspicious" activity?

We must include in our community watch programs instructions on the best way to deal with a situation that we suspect to be domestic violence.

Our local newspapers and radio and TV stations must run Public Service Ads on domestic violence regularly.  These ads should include contact information for the domestic violence programs available in the area.

Communities must hold fund raising activities to give financially to domestic violence prevention and service programs.

Every business in the community must support and get involved in the fight to stop domestic violence.
